Project Description: Provide direct relief to residents in the Puerto Rican town of Vega Baja and adjacent inland towns greatly affected by Hurricane Maria who are still struggling with basic necessities. This will be accomplished through partnership with a local church in Vega Baja called Iglesia Gracia Redentora. The church has been purchasing groceries and other basic necessities and distributing out of the church to reach residents on a consistent basis. Some of the basic needs being purchased/handed out: baby food, diapers, batteries, water, lanterns and flashlights, feminine products, bug repellent, pet food, and first aid kits.
Background: Hurricane Maria left Puerto Rico devastated. Despite massive inflows of aid, much of that aid is not reaching the local municipalities. Most people are without power and without basic needs like clean water. Money and everyday transactions have come to a halt because lack of electricity is hindering people’s ability to access bank accounts/receive payments for work.
Your contribution: Funds will go to the church to purchase basic necessities to be distributed.
